Whirlpool W10194073 Affresh High Efficiency Washer Cleaner with Grit Grabber Cloth

Affresh Washer Cleaner removes and prevents odor-causing residue that can occur in all brands of HE washers. While bleach only kills odor-causing bacteria leaving behind the detergent residue, Affresh Washer Cleaner uses surfactant chemistry to remove the root problem. Affresh cleaner is a formulated, slow-dissolve, foaming tablet that gets under residue, breaks it up, and washes it away leaving the washer smelling fresh and clean. Simply place one tablet in the wash basket (without clothes) and run a Normal Cycle (hot option) or Clean Washer Cycle. Affresh brand is environmentally friendly, safe on septic tanks, and safe for all washer components. Package includes three tablets and Grit Grabber cloth.
User Ratings and Reviews
2 Stars Affresh Does Not totally do the Job.
Our LG top loader in a short period of time left a moldy smell on recently washed items. We thought that Affreesh would eliminate the problem.
It did only for a short time even though their directions advise that you only have to use monthly. It only worked for us for short periods and not any way near the usage they claim .
5 Stars Excellent Product
My new washer came with instructions to use this product and it cleaned the inside of the washing machine just as advertised!
4 Stars getting rid of the black gunk
I despaired as to what to do about the black mold on the rubber seal in my Maytag Neptune washer. Maytag was no help–told me to make sure I did one hot water wash–and we never received notification about the class action suit. Anyway, I used the Affresh tablets (3) and gripper cloth and removed some of the mold. I am going to order another kit and try to get rid of more.
1 Star not worth the money
I used the tablets as instructed and the wiping cloths and it did very little to get rid of the odor. I then had my husband take off the front panel to look for some part that they (other reviewers)said could hold debris. We don’t have one. I haven’t even bothered to use the other box of tablets I bought. I just threw about a cup of white vinegar in w/ the HE detergent and got way better results. save your money.
4 Stars Definitely got rid of the smell
Our LG front loader has given us trouble for a long time. Due to the moldy smell inside the machine and on our clothes, the black gunk inside the gasket and ridiculously loud sound it makes when spinning, I discourage people away from buying one of these machines. That being said, I have one, so I have to find a way to work around the machine’s poor design.
I have to say that the machine smelled very clean after I ran a tablet through. It did take three cycles to fully dissolve the tablet, but I was pleased with the results. I have also used vinegar to get the moldy smell out of the machine and our clothes…it sometimes takes several washes, but it does work. I did feel that the tablet made the washing machine cleaner than vinegar has in the past.
Like other posters, the manufacturer has been of no help, suggesting that it’s pilot error (it’s a washing machine, people, how much pilot error could be involved, I’m not sure). We also went back to the store where we purchased the washer and were met with salespeople who seemed to be confused by our claims, suggesting that we dry the washer after each use. We tried that, but the moldy odor and black gunk persisted.
I will use the tablets as needed, and continue to leave the door open when it’s not in use.
